Romanticize

You could say that I romanticize everything.
You could also say that I'm delusional.
Personally, I don't give a shit how you label it.

Is it so wrong for me to be this way?
I think not.
I am an artist.
I am a writer.

Is it so wrong that I want everything to be beautiful?
Once again, no.

So, even if my head and my thoughts are up in the clouds,
while everyone else is grounded,
even if I am alone in the way I think (which I'm sure I'm not),
I will not give up on it.

What's wrong with daydreaming,
or writing more beauty into a story?
I realize it's not all 100% true,
and so do you,
so I see no wrong in this.

No wrong in seeing more color,
On a bland day.

No wrong in staring for a long time at a piece of furniture,
Seeing the details more clearly.

No wrong in thinking more about how I write my thoughts.

There is no wrong in me writing beauty into my life.

Letter from the Editor: January 2014

Hello, my readers. If you haven't been following along, the theme of this month is "Promise to be yourself this year."

So, "what exactly does this mean?", you may ask.

Well, what I mean by this is, not only should you be yourself by saying "fuck it" to trying to fit in. Forget everyone's expectations of you, make decisions because you want to make them. Now, this doesn't mean ignoring what your parents or friends say, it means taking their words into consideration and thinking about what this means to you. This month ask yourself questions and take notice of what you like, or you don't like, and to how you've changed from a time ago. Remember that who you are isn't going to always be the same, and be open to what changes are ahead.
It also means being open to trying new things that you may have said no to before. But, remember to be safe, and to think about what the outcome might be to your decisions. Think about things more.

This may be different or difficult, but trying is the key.

Even though this is the theme of the month, you should keep this in mind for the rest of the year and onwards. Be yourself and think things through! Take control of your life!

Love,
violet lennox (this is a pen name.)

P. S. There's still plenty of room for people to send submissions this month. so make sure to email frida.feminist@aol.com to do so!
